How have the coronavirus restrictions affected your life? I’m pretty much a homebody anyway, and the place where I work is currently an empty house, so I’m still going to work. My water aerobics classes apparently won’t be cancelled either because chlorine kills the virus. However, some of our social engagements have been cancelled and it’s looking increasingly like we might not be able to go visit our new granddaughter. That decision hasn’t been made yet, though.
I went to the grocery store today for the first time since the Great Toilet Paper Stockpiling began. Wow. It was interesting to see which items were in demand for those who want to stockpile and which were ignored. I was surprised that the popcorn supply was pretty much wiped out. I guess people are planning to watch lots of movies (isn’t that what popcorn is for? I can’t imagine eating popcorn without also watching something.). Peanut butter was also almost gone, except for a few jars of weird peanut butter. When did we start having something called “Pumpkin Peanut Butter Spread” on our shelves? I managed to snag one of the last jars of HyVee crunchy peanut butter.
I imagine sports fans are suffering, but the cancelling of sports events has no impact on me. The library is closed – that hurts. I feel great sympathy, though, for people whose livelihoods are being affected by closures.
When you consider the sovereignty of God in all things, you understand that even this is part of His plan. “O, the depths of the riches, both of the wisdom and knowledge of God. How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways.” Romans 11:33. We have certainly been praying for God’s mercies in this midst of this crisis.
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13.
Spring is coming. Hallelujah!

I’ll probably delete this in the morning.
