Some Snippets from our Sunday:
Soul-Strengthening Hymns:
“If thou but trust in God to guide thee
And hope in Him through all thy ways,
He’ll give thee strength, whate’er betide thee
And bear thee through the evil days.
Who trusts in God’s unchanging love
Builds on the rock that naught can move.”
And another:
“Satan, I defy thee; Death I now decry thee;
Fear I bid thee cease.
World, thou shalt not harm me, nor thy threats alarm me
While I sing of peace.
God’s great pow’r guards every hour;
Earth and all its depths adore Him,
Silent bow before Him.”
The Divine Meal:
A body broken and blood shed – sins forgiven; a salutary gift that refreshes and strengthens our faith.
Maiden Voyage of our New/Used Canoe on the Lake:
Arms remembering old skills, paddles cutting into the waves, blue skies, sweet companionship, pelicans overhead, ducks bobbing along, motorboats making choppy waves, our sleek craft riding high on the water, pulling up at the dock, hoisting the Old Town onto Big Bertha.

Another Meal, Divine In Its Own Way:
Ribeye steak, sautéed mushrooms and onions, sweet corn.
Rest and Reading
Conversations:
Catching up with some of our children (and our granddaughter!)
Campfire:
The day comes to an end as we sit around the campfire in our backyard with our son and daughter-in-law, being regaled by their tales of a wedding they attended, eating chocolate-covered date bars, letting the smoke from the fire bond with our clothes and hair…
The sun goes down, the evening becomes cool and dark, and the words come back:
“Who trusts in God’s unchanging love
Builds on the rock that naught can move.”
“Earth and all its depths adore Him,
Silent bow before Him.”
This has been Monday Meanderings with Lynniebeemuseoday.
I’ll probably delete these snippets and throw them in the next campfire.
Lynnie! What’s with the Canoe..?!? Kayaks are much lighter, much more stable, and much easier to paddle… ( But I guess Kris could do most of the paddling and the lifting to get it atop “Big Bertha”…just kidding…kinda..). On the positive side, now we could get out on the water together..?
(Kris included because I wouldn’t want to lift the Old Town onto the roof rack as it would be too much for my Old Back!). Being on the water really is soothing to the Spirit, so I hope you have many opportunities to enjoy your new “Old Town” (altho I still think kayaks would have been the better choice – but I will admit that I am quite biased on that subject!). My kayaking club – St. Croix River Valley Paddling Club – graciously includes canoeists as well as kayakers. So you are welcome to join us anytime!
Also – I appreciated the Hymns you posted. The writers were truly anointed in their abilities to condense God’s Truth into memorable lyrics! So much of the music that is sung in Church these days is a bit sappy and lacks a strong anchor to Scripture.
So – those are MY meanderings on this Monday – yikes!

We’re both more accustomed to canoeing so when we found out that one of my brother-in-law’s was selling his canoe we jumped at it! I actually had to help Kris get the canoe up on the van and back down. It wasn’t as heavy as you might think. Yes, maybe we can do a paddle together! I’ll tell Kris about the Paddling Club. Our son and DIL might like to know about that too. And I agree about contemporary music in the church!

I enjoyed that post so much…..beautiful, comforting hymn verses and hearing of your fun time canoeing. You two have so much fun! Looks like another smokey morning for us. Maybe I can pretend it’s a campfire 😊 🔥 Thank you for your musings, meanderings and snippets….they are edifying in my world of tuba music and parades 🤣 ❤️

I figure you have the advantage, too, of knowing the hymn tunes. 😊 Thanks for your thoughtful response. Now you’ve become my blog groupie too!
