The Ark. You know it as Noah’s Ark. It’s presented in children’s books as a cute little wooden vessel with giraffes and elephants poking their heads out of the top and a little rainbow overhead. Try to forget all of that when you go to see the Ark Encounter in Kentucky.
Have you ever thought about the logistical nightmare of building a boat that needed to hold 8 people and lots of animal pairs for a year? This isn’t a kid’s story, it’s real life, or it was for Noah and his family. The people who built the life-sized ark replica in Kentucky did their homework, figuring out just how big the ark really was, what size and shape made the most sense, how many different kinds of animals needed to be on board, how they would be housed, fed, watered and had their waste taken care of, etc. We tend to think that people of ancient times weren’t nearly as smart as we are, but I think sometimes the opposite is true: we’re not nearly as smart as they were.
I’m not going to give a lot of details about the Ark Encounter, but definitely recommend it as an amazing experience.

If you’ve been to the Ark also, let me know what you thought!
I’ll probably delete this in the morning – wait, is that rain I hear?
Hi Lynnie! Wow!!! I have heard about the Ark, and I hope I might even get the chance to see it. One of my favorite childhood toys was a small plastic version of Noah’s Ark – I loved that wonderful boat! The deck lifted off to reveal the storage space for all the figurines that came with the Ark: Noah and his family, of course, along with several pairs of animals. I spent many hours coaxing the animals up the gangplank and onto the deck. Once “the rains began”, I would place the various animals safely down below, post Noah in the bow, and off they all would float in the wind and rain – all around our dining room table (and/or other available surface). I actually think that I still have that Ark (minus the deck for some reason now lost in time) somewhere in a box or trunk.
Ya know, I never thought about the fact that Noah and company would have to grow food onboard..! Your pics are great – the Ark looks enormous! Thanks so much for sharing!

Noah was accused of being a conspiracy theorist. Until it started to rain.

We thought the Ark Encounter was great. Gave a whole new perspective and picture of what it was like. Your pictures are great.

I would certainly go again. It’s one thing to read about it, but that doesn’t really give you a full sense of the immensity of the Ark and the whole project. It was so well done!

Thank you for sharing! I have heard so many wonderful things about it. We have not been there yet. Perhaps this will get us there sooner. We have a friend from church who was a part of an expedition
to uncover the real ark. I don’t remember his story. That would be a wonderful trip as well!

That sounds like a very interesting story! After we visited the Ark, we watched a couple documentaries about people who searched for the place where the Ark landed. One of them had very compelling evidence for a particular location.
