Here’s the latest project – adding some color to our kitchen. I did a couple sample stencils on some extra tiles (we didn’t have any extra 4”x4” tiles around) and am starting to realize how long this is going to take. I have four different stencils and am trying to decide whether or not to use all the different colors for each one (like above) or to do one color per stencil and vary them by color throughout the kitchen. Or should I just pick one color and use only that one? I’m not doing every tile – just select ones. I can’t imagine building a house and having to make decisions about every single thing in every single room. Anyway, opinions are welcome!
We’re in the midst of a good old-fashioned Minnesota blizzard right now. “Snow on snow on snow…” Thoughts of hot chocolate, a lap blanket and a good book are swirling around in my head as the snow swirls around outside. I’m done here.
I’ll probably…(do you hear the hot chocolate calling?)
The stencils are beautiful. Since you’re only doing selective tiles I would make them all colorful. Yes, it will take some time with all those different colors, but it will bring cheerfulness throughout your kitchen. Just my thoughts 😊.

I appreciate the advice! I just wanted to make sure it didn’t look too busy. I’m glad you think it would be fine to use all the colors.

The sample tiles look GREAT! I can understand the labor involved, but I would suggest not giving up on the idea of using a multiple color scheme.
I especially like the tile that has the predominant yellow, orange, and touch of blue (the tile on the right). I like the other one as well, and it would look great mixed with the other tile. But if you’re going to go with just one design, I would suggest the first one that I mentioned in all its multi-color glory!
The towels and the tile look wonderful together – really will add that pop o’ color you want to achieve. Actually, you probably wouldn’t have to stencil all that many tiles to get the look you want because the colors are so vibrant.
Let me know what you end up deciding. It’s going to look fantastic!

Another vote for multi color stenciling rolls in!! I’ll have to consult with you about how many. We have four rows of the tiles and I was going to do every other tile in the two middle rows. I’d love to get by with less, though. Thanks!

Beautiful, Lynnie! I love the primary colors. I don’t know how it would look each tile all one color. Sure is pretty this way though. The towels look so nice with them too. I’m sure the stenciling is tedious, but it sure adds color and looks so nice.

Thanks! Every bit of feedback is helpful and valuable. I’m not gifted in the whole décor realm. 😬

I too vote for every color on each! They look great! I’ve always liked colorful tiles and had no idea stenciling patterns on was a possibility. What kind of paints, I wonder?

I’m using acrylic paints after spraying on a matte primer and will apply a clear matte sealer. Thanks for your vote!
