In the year of COVID-19
We learned to wash our hands:
Twenty seconds to get them clean,
The Department of Health demands.
In the year of COVID-19
We changed our way of greeting.
Hugs and handshakes can’t be seen,
Elbow bumps are how we’re meeting.
In the year of COVID-19
Fear was in the vapor.
People became selfish and mean,
Buying all the toilet paper.
In the year of COVID-19
We cancelled all our sports.
Viewing choices were awfully lean,
Cooking shows replaced basketball courts.
In the year of COVID-19
Restaurants and concerts closed.
So instead of spending all our green,
We stayed at home and dozed.
In the year of COVID-19
We couldn’t go to church.
But take heart, that doesn’t mean
We’ve been left in a spiritual lurch.
In the year of COVID-19
God is still on the throne.
Confess your sins, O nation obscene,
Christ alone for your sins can atone.
Amen.

I’ll probably delete this in the morning.
Did you know you can sing this to the melody of In the Year 2525 ?

Ha ha! I just tried it and it wasn’t easy, but I guess it can be done. Is that your pro tip? 😆

You have given me a formal structure to analyze… vey excited! Seven four line stanzas with three lines of tetrameter and one line ( the second) of trimeter, rhyming abab. You are definitely the poet laureate of our house!

Is that an elected position or am I Poet Laureate for life?
