I saw a furry cattail
Unattached to a cat
As if a cat would claim it
And wear it just like that.

It looks more like a hot dog
Hanging out on a stick
But where’s the dog in that?
It’s all a visual trick.

No cat, no dog would own it
It needs no fancy pomp
Just let it go to seed
Out there in the swamp.
