The grass withers,
The flower fades…
But the word of our God
Stands forever.
Isaiah 40:8

Perhaps that’s what we should ponder when autumn comes to carry summer away. There is an ache in the senescence of the garden, but it was never meant to last forever.

God’s word is a flower that never fades. It is a green grass that never withers. Such is our hope.

I’ll probably delete this senescent post in the morning.

  1. Yes there is always a bittersweet to the end of summer. Fall has always been my favorite season for the milder weather and colors; and in many ways autumn has been my favorite season of life: more clarity than in the mists of spring or the haze of summer. Yet I am glad we are given real dawns every day, and real springs every year, to relive the excitement of new beginnings. It is an incredible world God has made isn’t it – that we live on a rock clothed with life, that rotates, giving us days, and revolves, giving us seasons.

  2. that Isaiah 40 verse is such a comfort. Thank God for His faithful promises. For sure I will think of it when pulling out my dead and fainting blossoms. Thank you for the reminder
