Wednesday, October 28, 2026 The Workshop: Paintings à la Idaho

And by that title, I do not mean paintings OF Idaho. Most of you know how often I pack up all my painting supplies, bring them out West while we visit family, and then bring them back untouched.

This time I had added incentive to use them. I finally bought a bonafide paint supply tote! In the past, I’ve crammed things into cardboard boxes or flimsy bags, but no more. No more! Just look at this beautiful bag!

I couldn’t let this beauty languish in the car, could I?

While we were visiting our southern Idaho family, I had a painting session with our daughter-in-law and 6-year-old granddaughter. It was a lot of fun! Here’s what we came up with:

In retrospect, we should have been painting pumpkins instead of ornaments, but I didn’t think of that until later. We had some extra time, so we each did another painting.

This was the work of the youngest artist. I love it!
My DIL did this charming painting. Framable!
This was mine. Lots of trees resting in a sea of bright yellow, just like reality. Ha ha!

Then we went to visit our northern Idaho family. My daughter and I sat down for a paint session one day. She wanted to paint something that had a fall vibe to it.

She came up with this WITHOUT even looking at Pinterest or a photo! Also framable!
I went to Pinterest to find this one. I’m not quite done, but so far, I’m pleased with how it’s looking.

I feel I must apologize for the heavy usage of exclamation marks. Again. It’s a regular apology from me.

Okay, that’s a wrap. I think you know what might happen to this in the morning. Do I have to say it?
