I just took a stroll through my smallified photos file to see what I’ve left languishing there in unsung glory. To my shock (yes, shock!) I haven’t used one of my favorite photos from all year. Please may I introduce to you:

Is it a conceit for me to think that it is exquisite? I assure you it’s not because I took the photo. It is the sheer existence of these beautiful things all coming together in one scene. In essence, I am extolling the God of creation when I admire this photo. The seed pod with tiny little hairs, the colors of it in painterly contrast with that dreamy sky, Lake Superior and the rocks behind it…does it not take your breath away?
If it doesn’t, fret not. We can’t all be poets and dreamers. I have a healthy appreciation for the kind of person who looks at that photo and says, “Very nice” and goes on to do productive things while I dissolve into poetic excesses over it.
We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.
I’ll probably be swooning over that photo while I delete this in the morning.
